More than 7,000 cases of Ebola have been confirmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo, marking the deadliest outbreak of the disease in the country’s history, Congolese authorities announced on Saturday. The figures, released by the Ministry of Health, encompass infections recorded since the epidemic began in August 2018 and span several provinces, including North Kivu, Ituri and South Kivu, where the virus has repeatedly crossed into densely populated areas.
