Trained detection dogs proved their worth at a World Customs Organization (WCO) forum held in Tashkent, where experts highlighted the growing partnership between canine units and advanced scanning technology. Demonstrations showed that dogs can identify synthetic drugs and concealed cargo that high‑speed scanners sometimes miss, underscoring the complementary strengths of biological and electronic detection methods.

During the event, customs officials and technology developers presented case studies and live trials in which canine teams worked alongside X‑ray and millimeter‑wave scanners. The results indicated that the combination of scent detection and imaging provides a more comprehensive screening process, reducing the risk of illicit goods slipping through at ports and airports.
