Colosseum adds late-night tours four nights a week this summer

Rome’s iconic Colosseum will open its gates later than usual this summer, offering fully booked evening tours on four nights each week. The new schedule, announced by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, aims to provide visitors with a cooler, more atmospheric experience while easing daytime crowds.

The evening tours, which begin at 6:30 p.m. and run until 9:30 p.m., are available in several languages and include special lighting that highlights the amphitheatre’s architectural details. Tickets, priced at €30 for adults and €20 for children, must be purchased in advance through the official Colosseum website or authorized travel partners. The initiative is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable tourism and extend the visitor experience beyond the traditional daytime hours.
