City of Hope Develops Blood Test to Detect Pancreatic Cancer Early

Researchers at City of Hope, one of the nation’s largest and most advanced cancer research and treatment organizations, have developed a novel investigational blood test designed to detect pancreatic cancer at its earliest stages. The test, which analyzes circulating biomarkers associated with the disease, aims to identify tumors before they become symptomatic and before they spread, thereby improving the likelihood of successful treatment.

The study, conducted by a multidisciplinary team of oncologists, pathologists, and bioinformatics specialists, evaluated the test’s sensitivity and specificity in a cohort of patients with early‑stage pancreatic cancer and healthy controls. Preliminary results indicate that the test can reliably distinguish malignant from benign pancreatic conditions with a high degree of accuracy, offering a potential non‑invasive screening tool that could be integrated into routine clinical practice.
