China Tornadoes Kill Eight

Central China’s Hubei province suffered a severe weather event on Tuesday, when two rare tornadoes struck the region, killing at least eight people. State media reported that the tornadoes produced winds reaching 149 kph (92.58 mph), powerful enough to tear through buildings and flip vehicles. The sudden, violent winds caused extensive structural damage and left several communities in disarray.

Emergency services were dispatched immediately to the hardest-hit areas, where search and rescue operations are ongoing. Local authorities have called for additional support from neighboring provinces and the national disaster response agency. While the exact number of injuries remains unconfirmed, the incident has prompted a review of tornado preparedness plans in Hubei, a region that rarely experiences such violent storms.
