Ceferin Calls Infantino's World Cup Plan Worse Than Super League

Aleksander Ceferin, president of UEFA, has warned that FIFA chief Gianni Infantino will face a challenger if he seeks a second term in March. Ceferin called Infantino’s recent attempt to sell stakes in the World Cup “even worse than the Super League plan,” and said the football world is ready to oppose the move.

The UEFA president led the federation’s united front against the Football Forward Enterprise (FFE) scheme, which was abandoned in early August after widespread backlash. UEFA, with backing from Concacaf and the Asian Football Confederation, is urging Infantino to step down and has not yet withdrawn a threat to boycott FIFA competitions while it negotiates a joint Nations League tournament with Concacaf.

If Infantino remains in office, UEFA says it will stand firm in its opposition, and the international football community will be prepared to contest his re‑election. The outcome of the upcoming vote will shape the governance of the sport for the next four years.
