CDC Reports 1,955 Arboviral Disease Cases in 48 States and D.C.

West Nile Virus Cases Remain a Concern in the US. According to a recent report by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a significant number of arboviral disease cases were reported across the country in 2024. A total of 1,955 cases were documented by 48 states and the District of Columbia, highlighting the ongoing threat of these diseases.

The majority of these cases, approximately 92%, were attributed to West Nile virus (WNV), a mosquito-borne illness known to cause a range of symptoms from mild fever to severe neurological complications. The widespread presence of WNV cases underscores the importance of public health measures, such as mosquito control and prevention strategies, to mitigate the risk of transmission. The remaining cases were caused by other arboviruses, including Eastern equine encephalitis and La Crosse encephalitis.
