CD Projekt Red targets 2028 release for The Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red has announced a tentative release window for its next main‑line entry in the Witcher franchise. Joint chief executive Michał Nowakowski disclosed in a video that The Witcher 4 is slated for launch sometime in 2028, marking the studio’s first major title since the 2023 release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The company has been developing the sequel for several years and has previously shared teaser footage, but this is the first time a concrete timeframe has been provided.

The announcement coincides with the studio’s presentation at Gamescom, where it will unveil the upcoming Witcher 3 expansion, Songs of the Past. The expansion, scheduled for release in 2027, will be featured during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live segment, hosted by Geoff Keighley. Songs of the Past is positioned as the final major content update for the 2015 game before the franchise moves forward with the next generation title.
