Cali Children's Hospital Partially Collapses in Colombia Earthquake

A security‑camera recording released by the city of Cali shows a sudden collapse of part of a children’s hospital on the morning of April 12. The footage, taken from a camera overlooking the building’s north façade, captures a section of the roof and the adjacent support structure giving way within seconds, sending debris onto the street below. The incident occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m., before the hospital’s shift change.

Emergency responders arrived within minutes. According to the hospital’s public affairs office, the collapse involved the pediatric wing’s roof trusses, but no patients or staff were injured. The affected area was immediately cordoned off, and the hospital temporarily suspended all non‑essential services while structural engineers assessed the damage. The city’s fire department also inspected the surrounding block for secondary hazards.
