CAF votes unanimously to support FIFA President Gianni Infantino

CAF president Patrice Motsepe urged a renewed focus on good governance within African football on Tuesday, emphasizing that transparent and accountable administration is essential for the sport’s development across the continent. Speaking at a press conference in Johannesburg, Motsepe highlighted recent governance challenges that have plagued several national associations and called on member federations to adopt stricter compliance measures, improve financial oversight, and strengthen democratic processes in line with FIFA’s global standards.

At the same time, Motsepe reaffirmed Africa’s support for FIFA president Gianni Infantino, noting that the confederation stands behind the World Cup host‑selection reforms and the broader strategic agenda promoted by the global governing body. The CAF chief said the continent’s collective backing will help advance Infantino’s initiatives on inclusivity, infrastructure investment and the expansion of women’s football, while also reinforcing the partnership between FIFA and African stakeholders as they prepare for upcoming continental tournaments and the next CAF Congress.
