Brian Druker pioneers precision medicine and leads OHSU cancer initiative

Brian Druker, M.D., a leading figure in precision medicine, is credited with developing the targeted therapy that transformed chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) from a fatal disease into a manageable condition. The drug, imatinib, directly inhibits the BCR‑ABL fusion protein that drives CML, dramatically improving survival rates and establishing a new paradigm for cancer treatment.
