Belkin launches semi-solid-state power banks with BoostSolid Cell technology

Belkin announced the release of its first power banks that employ semi‑solid‑state battery technology, joining rivals such as BMX, Kuxiu and Zens in the emerging market for next‑generation portable chargers. Branded as BoostSolid Cell, the devices incorporate a gel‑like layer in addition to the liquid electrolyte typical of lithium‑ion cells, a design the company says enables a lifespan up to three times longer than conventional power banks. Belkin also highlights reduced risk of overheating, swelling or fire, and more consistent power delivery across a broader temperature range.

While the new BoostSolid Cell units are priced higher than comparable lithium‑ion power banks, Belkin positions the added durability and safety features as justification for the premium. The launch reflects a growing industry shift toward semi‑solid‑state chemistries that aim to combine the energy density of liquid electrolytes with the stability of solid‑state designs.
