Belgian FA withdraws support for Infantino's re‑election bid

The Belgian Football Association (KBVB/URBSFA) announced on Tuesday that it will not support FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s bid for re‑election, citing the lingering controversy surrounding the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In a statement released by the association’s president, Vincent Kompany, the federation said the handling of human‑rights issues, labor conditions and the overall governance of the tournament had eroded confidence in Infantino’s leadership.

The KBVB/URBSFA’s decision follows growing criticism from several European national associations over perceived deficiencies in FIFA’s transparency and accountability mechanisms.
