Bangladesh rules out Shakib Al Hasan's return to cricket

Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh’s premier all‑rounder, announced that he is prepared to return to his home country to face the pending legal proceedings, provided that the authorities guarantee his personal safety. The cricketer, who has been residing abroad since the charges were filed, said the assurance would enable him to attend court without jeopardising his well‑being, and he expressed a willingness to cooperate with the judicial process.

Despite Shakib’s statement, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that there are no plans for his immediate reinstatement to the national side. The board cited the ongoing legal case and the need to maintain the integrity of the sport as reasons for keeping him out of upcoming fixtures. The BCB reiterated its commitment to supporting the legal process while upholding its selection policies, leaving Shakib’s cricketing future uncertain until the trial concludes.
