Australia Cuts Evening Gas Dependence by 70% with Battery Growth

According to a recent EnergyEdge analysis, gas‑fired generation in this critical window fell by 67% in the year to August, a decline that represents nearly 70 % of the overall reduction in gas dependence over the past year. The drop comes as large‑scale battery installations have ramped up across the country and a government subsidy program has enabled the deployment of roughly half a million home batteries.
The rapid uptake of battery storage has allowed the grid to rely less on fossil fuels when demand peaks, improving reliability and reducing emissions.
