Attacks on education rise globally, hindering children's learning

Worldwide attacks on education have risen sharply, with schools and other learning facilities increasingly targeted in conflict zones. Reports from international monitoring bodies indicate that thousands of institutions have been damaged or destroyed over the past year, disrupting the education of millions of children and exacerbating existing inequalities in access to learning.

Dr. Maleiha Malik of the Education Above All Foundation acknowledged that while it remains feasible to keep children engaged in learning through alternative and remote methods, the physical and psychological damage inflicted by conflict is not easily remedied. She emphasized the need for coordinated reconstruction efforts and sustained investment in safe learning environments to restore the long‑term educational prospects of affected communities.
