Astronomers Discover Youngest Known Planet, Elias 2‑24 b
Astronomers have announced that the planet Elias 2‑24 b, orbiting the young star Elias 2‑24, is the youngest planet yet confirmed, with an estimated age of less than one million years. The discovery was made by analysing data from NASA‑funded astronomical archives, revealing the planet still embedded in the protoplanetary disk of dust and gas that surrounds its host star.
