The first modern graphics card to ship with only 4 GB of VRAM has appeared, a development that comes as memory prices and component shortages continue to drive up the cost of new technology. Digital Foundry reported that a listing for an AMD Radeon RX 9050 with 4 GB of RAM was spotted on ASRock’s website by a user on X, the same day the company also announced an 8‑GB version of the card.

According to ASRock’s specifications, the 4‑GB RX 9050 is built on AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture and features a 64‑bit memory interface, 16 compute units and a boost clock of up to 2,600 MHz, delivering 18 GB/s of memory bandwidth. The modest memory size is paired with support for new features such as FSR 4, which can help mitigate the impact of lower VRAM on performance in modern games. The card’s launch underscores the ongoing tension between rising component costs and the demand for higher‑performance GPUs.
