Apple Skips AirPods Pro Cameras in September Launch

Apple’s September 2024 event delivered a mix of expected upgrades and notable omissions. The company unveiled its first foldable handset, the iPhone Duo, alongside the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models. In addition, active noise cancellation has been added to the entry‑level AirPods 5, and a new Siri Recap feature will debut on the Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4, offering users a concise summary of their day’s notifications and activities.

Despite the buzz that had built around a rumored AirPods Pro equipped with cameras, Apple chose not to introduce the device at this event. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the camera‑enabled earbuds are postponed until 2027, a decision that sidesteps potential privacy and regulatory concerns that have surrounded the concept. The delay leaves the AirPods Pro line unchanged for the time being, while Apple continues to focus on expanding its flagship smartphone and wearable lineup.
