Anthropic to restore Claude Fable 5 after export controls lifted

Anthropic has announced that it will restore access to its consumer‑facing AI model Claude Fable 5, following the U.S. Department of Commerce’s decision to lift export controls on the model and its sibling Mythos 5. In a post on X, the company said it will begin re‑deploying the models tomorrow and will provide a further update shortly. The announcement comes after weeks of negotiations with the Trump administration, during which Anthropic had temporarily taken Fable 5 offline.

The company thanked users for their patience and acknowledged the efforts of the team that worked on redeploying the models. Earlier in June, Anthropic had sidelined Fable 5, a model built on the same underlying technology as its other offerings, because of the export‑control restrictions. The lifting of those controls is expected to allow the model to resume service to consumers and developers in the United States and potentially other markets.
