Anker SleepLab speaker tracks sleep with radar and adds binaural beats and lighting
Anker has introduced the SleepLab speaker, a bedside device that monitors sleep without the need for a wearable. The unit emits a 60 GHz millimeter‑wave radar signal from the nightstand to detect minute chest and body movements, allowing continuous measurement of heart rate and breathing patterns throughout the night. By analyzing these biometric signals, the speaker identifies the user’s current sleep stage and adjusts its output to promote deeper rest.
Over a month of use, the SleepLab speaker compiles data on nightly routines and employs acoustic binaural beats and adjustable lighting to gradually enhance relaxation. The system operates with a single button press, functions independently of a smartphone, and does not require a subscription service. The Verge reports that the device aims to provide a personalized, non‑invasive approach to improving sleep quality.
