Amnesty International reports Sudan's RSF committed crimes against humanity in El Fasher

Amnesty International released a report on Wednesday alleging that the Sudanese paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) committed crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing during its campaign to seize the city of El Fasher. The organization claims that the RSF carried out a widespread and systematic assault on civilians, involving murder, torture, rape, enslavement and sexual slavery. According to the report, these acts were not isolated incidents but part of a coordinated effort to terrorise and displace the local population.

The findings detail how RSF units reportedly targeted specific ethnic groups, using violence and intimidation to enforce control over the region. The report cites eyewitness accounts and forensic evidence to substantiate the allegations, describing the brutality as part of a broader strategy to eliminate resistance and consolidate power. Amnesty International calls for an independent investigation and urges international bodies to hold the RSF accountable for the alleged atrocities.
