AMD data center revenue more than doubles as gaming sales fall 31%
AMD reported a sharp rise in its data‑center segment, with revenue more than doubling year‑over‑year to $6.7 billion, up 107 percent from the $3.2 billion it earned in the same quarter a year ago. The increase was driven by strong demand for the company’s AI‑accelerated processors and other high‑performance computing solutions, which now account for 58 % of AMD’s total revenue.
In contrast, the company’s gaming business fell 31 percent to $779 million, reflecting higher prices and ongoing component shortages that have slowed sales of the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and Valve’s Steam Deck. Despite the decline in gaming, AMD’s overall revenue grew 50 percent year‑over‑year to a record $11.5 billion, underscoring the growing importance of data‑center and AI workloads for the chipmaker.
