Amazon blocks breastfeeding employee from business course
Rachael Bews, a parent employed at an Amazon fulfillment center, reported that she was informed en route to work that her child would not be permitted on the site. The incident occurred after she arrived with her child, only to be denied entry despite having assumed the presence of a visitor policy that would allow her to bring the child for a brief visit. Bews said the lack of prior notification left her unable to make alternative arrangements, causing inconvenience and distress.
In response, Amazon issued a public apology, acknowledging that the company's visitor guidelines were not communicated clearly to employees. The corporation stated it would review and improve its policy dissemination procedures to prevent similar misunderstandings in the future. Amazon emphasized its commitment to ensuring that all staff receive accurate information regarding site access rules.
