Alessandro Stravato recounts 9/11 experience and caregiving for his ailing father

Stravato recounted that his immediate response after the impact was to locate his father, who was working at City Hall, rather than to consider the broader significance of the attacks. He found his father alive but covered in debris and soot, and the two walked several blocks through Manhattan. Although his father survived the day, his health declined over subsequent years, culminating in a cancer diagnosis; he died in 2015 after urging his son to “stay strong.” The testimony is intended to illustrate the long‑term human consequences of the attacks and to honor the resilience of those directly affected.
