Adobe adds generative AI tools to Indigo camera app

Adobe’s experimental camera app, Indigo, which debuted last year to deliver a “more natural (SLR‑like) look” for iPhone photography, is now being updated with a suite of generative AI tools. The new features, dubbed the “AI Playground,” are being rolled out as an experiment and do not rely on Adobe’s own Firefly AI models. Users will see a button that allows them to opt out and continue using the app in its original form.

According to Adobe, the AI Playground will be offered free of charge and without any sign‑on requirement to a small percentage of Indigo users over the coming weeks. The company says the goal is to learn how people interact with the new tools and to gauge the impact on their photography workflow. The experiment will provide data on usage patterns and user preferences before a wider release is considered.

Adobe’s move reflects a broader industry trend toward integrating generative AI into mobile photography.
