538 bodies recovered in Nepal flood disaster

A deadly flood that swept through Nepal’s eastern region this week has been described by officials as having an “immense” impact, with authorities confirming that 538 bodies have been recovered from the disaster‑stricken area. The flood, triggered by unusually heavy monsoon rains, inundated villages along the Arun River, destroying homes, infrastructure and agricultural land, and prompting a large‑scale emergency response.
